SAN ANTONIO — The People's King, Rey Feo has been crowned.

Hundreds gathered in Main Plaza in Downtown San Antonio on Friday to witness the public crowning. The celebration of Rey Feo or the Ugly Fiesta King has been a part of Fiesta since 1980. He is selected by the local San Antonio LULAC council for raising the most money for the LULAC scholarship fund. During Fiesta, he visits schools and Latino-sponsored events. The organization was created nearly 30 years earlier in 1947 by LULAC Council number 2.

Ken Flores was crowned as this year's king. He's also second in his family to wear the crown.

"My dad was Rey Feo in 1996 and my mother was the Fiesta president of the whole Fiesta Commission so we've been through it,” he said.

During the event, visitors enjoyed mariachis, dancing and meeting their favorite Fiesta royals.
