SAN ANTONIO – Four suspects have been arrested, accused of killing 21-year-old Tarik Ross during an armed robbery in front of his 2-year-old son.

Ross was killed on March 6 around 4:26 p.m. in the 5300 block of Sherry Drive. The suspects - 21-year-old Raeshawn Deleon Woodard, 24-year-old Joseph Alvardo, 19-year-old James Berg, and 23-year-old Drevonte Jay King - were all arrested and accused of intentionally causing Ross's death.

According to the affidavit, the men had been texting with Ross to meet up for an unknown transaction, but secretly planned to steal his money and marijuana. Ross’s girlfriend told police she was in the car with him and their 2-year-old son when they were approached by the men.

One of the men got in the car and immediately pulled out a gun, pointing it at Ross’s girlfriend, the affidavit states. Ross then put his car into reverse as the suspect started shooting.

Ross was shot in the head and body. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died the next day at 12:40 p.m.

Police seized Ross’s phone for the investigation and found that he had been texting a person name “Dre” prior to the shooting. The phone number of the person Ross was talking to has been identified as Berg, who is an associate of King.

On March 8, Berg and King told police they were shot by a person confronting them for “setting him up to be robbed,” states the affidavit. Six days later Berg and King were asked to meet with a homicide unit about Ross’s death.

During the police interview, Berg and King claimed they knew the suspects were going to rob Ross, but didn’t know they were armed.

At King’s address police discovered the car matching the exact description of the vehicle seen fleeing the shooting.

All four suspects are facing capital murder charges.
