SAN ANTONIO — Two John Jay High School students were hit by a car while walking on the sidewalk on Thursday afternoon. 

Liliana Schouten-Hernandez and Cordell Boyd, both 18, were hit while they were waiting to cross Marbach Road. The students are seniors at the Jay Science & Engineering Academy and the incident happened during their lunch period.

Both of the students suffered serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The driver is a 41-year-old man, and a passenger in the car claims the man had a seizure, which caused the crash.

Police also found an alcohol container in the car and are in the process of getting a warrant to test his blood alcohol level.

The driver's condition is unknown but he was also take to the hospital. Authorities have not released his name at this time.
