SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Fire Department is at the scene of a fire at a recycling center on the city’s East Side.

At least 15 SAFD fire units are on the scene at the 7100 block of FM 1346.

The department said that the call came in a little after 11 a.m. When they arrived to All Star Recycling Center, they found several salvaged vehicles on fire.

The incident has been ruled purely accidental. SAFD said when a newly dropped off vehicle for salvage arrived, its fuel tank had not been removed. A hole in the tank caused gas to leak out and moving the vehicle around caused sparks.

"The fire very well could have spread and kept going and spread into their offices, the structures there on property, grass fires, surrounding areas. It's important to get here and get it put out," said Joe Arrington with the department.

No injuries are reported and crews were able to manage the fire without any actual facility damage.
