LULING, Texas — UPDATE: According TxDOT San Antonio's Twitter account, westbound Interstate 10 between U.S. 183 and Highway 80 near Luling has reopened. 

 

 

 

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people are dead and westbound Interstate 10 is closed near the San Marcos River Relief Bridge due to a crash involving several semi-trucks.

According to TxDOT San Antonio’s Twitter account, the crash occurred at 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. Four trucks caught on fire and the good they were carrying spilled over the road. The interstate will remain closed until 7 p.m. for cleanup and investigation.

Crews onsite are reporting significant rail damage and if immediate repairs are needed then the bridge may open later than expected.

Hazmat teams are onsite to help with the cleanup due to an unknown amount of diesel spilled on the roadway.

Traffic is being rerouted to U.S. Highway 183 though Caldwell County.
