SAN ANTONIO — A former San Antonio Spurs/UTSA basketball player has been arrested on DWI charges.

Devin Lavell Brown, 39, was arrested in San Antonio at 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of W. Loop 1604 N for a traffic accident. Upon arrival, they contacted the parties involved in the crash and discovered that Brown smelled strongly of intoxicating beverages and appeared to be intoxicated.

The officers conducted the normal battery of field sobriety tests and the subject showed signs of intoxication sufficient to warrant arrest for driving while intoxicated.

He's been charged with DWI and being held on $1,000 bond.

Brown played with the Spurs in 2002 and then again in 2003 to 2005 as a shooting guard.

A San Antonio native, he played basketball at South San Antonio West Campus High School before starting at the University of Texas at San Antonio and is the only Roadrunner to ever play for the Spurs.
