SAN ANTONIO — What better way to learn the festive tradition of Dia de los Muertos than getting to decorate your own sugar skull?

Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a centuries-old holiday with its deepest roots in Mexico.

With rich Mexican-American culture here in Texas and other parts of the U.S., the three-day celebration has spread. The purpose of the multi-day holiday is to remember and honor the dead in our family and keep their memories alive. Every year families set up altars to commemorate the dead.

For the kids, learning the tradition is done by hand, decorating their very own sugar skulls.

For those in San Antonio interested in having children learn the art of a sugar skulls, there is a kids class taking place this Saturday.
