SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio families and students got a chance to learn more about what it takes to prepare and succeed in their educational and professional careers.

Over the weekend, the Institute for P-20 Initiatives hosted its fourth Parent Engagement Summit at UTSA’s Downtown Campus.

The free one-day event gave parents a wide network of resources to help their children prepare for high school and college.

Career professionals were on hand, providing everything from one-on-one guidance to financial information.

“And, that’s everything from savings, personal savings, and what that can lead to. To what is a scholarship? Why are scholarships important? What is free money? Money you don’t have to pay back. They’re really eager to understand that,” said Joseph Kulhanek of the UTSA Institute for P-20 Initiatives.

Additional sessions for parents included topics on 21st century soft skills and cyber safety.
