AUSTIN, Texas — Entering the Big 12 conference opener this past Saturday, the Texas Longhorns were ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches top 25 polls. Upon losing to Texas Tech, the Longhorns fell out of both of these polls.

After a 31-17 halftime lead, the Raiders closed the gap and scored a field goal to end the game 37-34. This loss was enough for poll voters to give them no votes and for Texas to be dropped from the lists.

The first release of the AP Top 25 listed the Longhorns as unranked, and following the close game against Alabama, the Longhorns were in the rankings. Now, a third of the way through the season, they are back to where they started.

Texas has many ranked teams to play throughout the rest of their season, as well as hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
