DALLAS — In a statement via twitter Tuesday afternoon, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus. He reiterated that he is vaccinated and is experiencing mild symptoms. His wife Niki, who is also vaccinated, tested negative.

Mayor Johnson says he is most concerned about his two younger children who are yet unable to get the vaccine. He will not be present at Wednesday’s Dallas City Council Meeting, and has alerted his recent close contacts of his status.

Johnson said via Twitter that he appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers for his family and that he looks forward to a “speedy recovery” and getting back to work.

He also took this opportunity to encourage Dallas residents to get vaccinated if they have not already, and for those who are eligible to get the booster shot.
