TEXAS — As Texas faces another surge of coronavirus cases, health care workers are warning that hospitals could soon hit capacity. According to state officials, COVID-19 patients occupy 10% of total hospital beds in the state.

In response, the Texas Nurses Association is asking public officials to promote wearing a mask, saying in a statement that taking precautions is not a partisan request.

And, TNA CEO Cindy Zolnierek adds that nurses and hospitals are bearing the burden when people refuse to wear a mask.

“We can’t lock ourselves in our house all the time, so when we are out, we need to make sure we are masking,” Zolnierek said. “That protects you, it protects others, and it really helps nurses out.”
