The chance for showers has diminished over the next several days as high pressure aloft has settled overhead.   Underneath high pressure the air sinks, heats up and dries out creating a more stable air mass. Highs this afternoon will be near 90 but the humidity will make it feel more like the mid to upper 90s.

The heat will continue for the rest of the week with temperatures running about 4 to 5 degrees above normal which will put readings in the low 90s.  The humidity isn't going anywhere either.

A large trough of low pressure will dig deep into the Southwest this weekend.  It will be close enough to bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms with the better chance on Sunday.  Highs this weekend will remain hot with readings in the upper 80s to near 90.
