A cold front arrives as we start the weekend, interacting with rich, tropical moisture...leading to widespread heavy downpours.

Saturday, the First Day of Fall, will be a rainy start. The heaviest rain looks to fall during the early morning, tapering off by the early afternoon. The risk for flash flooding will then be elevated. Daytime temperatures should make it into the 70s and 80s, which is below normal for this time of year.

Drier conditions are expected Sunday, but a few light showers will be possible, so we'll keep a 20% rain chance in the forecast.

The latest forecast continues to call for some widespread 1 to 3 inch totals with isolated 5 to 6 inch totals possible.  Be sure to join us for 'Weather on the 1s' for an in-depth look at the latest models.
