Two months have passed since the Groundhog declared six more weeks of winter.  Locally, our weather staff (along with Bee Cave Bob) said it would instead be an early spring.  Well, the numbers are in, and we were correct.

Here's the proof, using the 30-year average (1981-2010) provided by the National Weather Service, versus the actual temperatures this year:

Austin
30-yr February average temperature: 55
2018 February average temperature: 56.1

30-yr March average temperature: 61.7
2018 March average temperature: 67

San Antonio
30-yr February average temperature: 55.6
2018 February average temperature: 58.4

30-yr March average temperature: 62.2
2018 March average temperature: 67

Obviously, there were times when it was cold, but when you do the math and include the highs and lows for each day, we were warmer than average.

As for April, while we're off to a wild start, odds favor an overall warmer than average month here at home, as predicted by NOAA's Climate Prediction Center
