Magaly Ayala is a bilingual multimedia journalist who was born in the state of Guanajuato in Mexico and raised in North Texas. She is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas as a TV journalist informing her community and amplifying their voices by sharing stories that impact them. She comes to Spectrum News 1 Texas after spending a couple of years in the Midwest, where she also had the opportunity to inform Wisconsinites as a multimedia journalist with our sister station Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Among the coverage she will always remember are the weeks of BLM marches and protests and the start of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020. Magaly feels inspired by people in her community serving and making life better for others, especially during the worst times people face. She is passionate about covering immigration, minority affairs, education, sports, and art/culture stories.
Prior to joining Spectrum News Networks, Magaly held reporter/multimedia journalist roles with Spanish-English duopoly stations in South Texas and the Pacific Northwest.
Before kicking off her on-air reporting career in 2017, Magaly worked as a consumer investigative producer for three years in Dallas-Fort Worth and was nominated for an EMMY for her work on a consumer news story. During that time she also had the opportunity to combine two of her biggest passions, sports and journalism, freelancing as a sports reporter for a newspaper in Dallas covering all major league, minor league and local sports in DFW from 2014-2016.
Magaly loves her family, dogs and Texas…coming back to work as a reporter in a top market in the Lone Star state where she is near her family and friends has been a dream come true. During her free time she loves to travel and, as a foodie, learn more about the people/ places she visits through their food (If you’re ever in Fort Worth she will tell you where the best breakfast burritos are!).
When not traveling, she likes to be a tourist in her own city, trying new food, exploring the outdoors, checking out art galleries or simply watching movies/series, especially foreign productions. Magaly has always had a special interest in languages and being a global citizen, aside from speaking Spanish and English fluently, she speaks un peu de Francais.
Live music gives her joy and, as a little girl she wanted to become a singer, but these days she prefers to use the mic during her live shots while reporting for Spectrum News 1 Texas all across Dallas-Fort Worth.
She looks forward to covering many more stories as the #fortworthnewsgal for Spectrum News Texas and seeing where her career and passions will continue to take her.
