TEXAS —Tuesday night’s presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio, quickly devolved into a shouting match, and whether either candidate “won” probably can’t be determined.

Whether the debate between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump actually managed to sway any voters remains to be seen, but Texas politicians and candidates had plenty to say about it. As you can imagine, the comments were right down party lines.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz criticized Biden’s energy plan during the debate, claiming it would cost “hundreds of thousands of American jobs” and “undermine U.S. energy dependence.”

Julián Castro, the former mayor of San Antonio and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama, tweeted that Biden showed poise during the event while charactering the president’s performance as “unhinged, childish.”

Rep. Randy Weber, R-Friendswood, had the opposite reaction to Castro’s, referring to Biden as “an idiot and an imbecile.”

MJ Hegar, who’s hoping to unseat Sen. John Cornyn, took issue with Trump’s response to a question about denouncing white supremacists.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Austin, echoed Hegar’s tweet.

Republican candidate for Texas’ 13th congressional district Ronny Jackson took issue with moderator Chris Wallace. Wallace struggled to get Trump and Biden under control and the debate on track.
