  • Austin is facing an afforability crisis

The “2020’s Best Real-Estate Markets” report came out last week and shows the capital city sits in the rankings between Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Spokane Valley, Washington, respectively.

According to WalletHub, the report was created by comparing 300 cities across the nation and factoring in everything from home-price appreciation, to job growth in an area, to how fast a home sells.

Three Texas cities made it into the top 10 list including Frisco (3), Austin (7), and Denton (9).

This isn’t the first time the city of Austin has ranked high in similar reports. WalletHub has also ranked Austin high on their lists of cities that are good for veterans and teachers.

For years the city has been grappling with how to deal with an affordability crisis and combat gentrification in Austin’s historically Black and brown neighborhoods.
