Matt Mershon joined Spectrum in October of 2019.
Mershon believes it's important to help make others aware of what's going on in the world around them. He's been able to tell all different kinds of stories throughout his journalism career - from covering a massive tornado outbreak in Arkansas, covering the state capitol, to exposing food suppliers in an investigation into COVID-19 price gouging. But he also enjoys being able to tell fun stories that uplift the community.
Matt came to Austin after spending six years as a reporter at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas. He got his start at WTVO-TV in Rockford, IL, after graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012. Mershon grew up in Medway, Massachusetts.
Mershon loves the down-to-earth vibe Austin gives off. As a big fan of traveling, he's excited to explore more of Texas and see what all the Lone Star State has to offer.
Whenever he's not reporting, you'll likely find Mershon out with his husband at a local restaurant or in front of the stove cooking at home - he's a huge foodie. He also loves to talk - and is always looking for a conversation while out on a new adventure. Mershon is a "pet dad" to Larkin, a grey tabby cat, and to Stanley, a Rhodesian ridgeback/boxer mix.
