TEXAS – Taking time to recover after a workout can be beneficial for your muscles and it also can be beneficial for your brain.

But in today's world with so many distractions, it can be difficult to find the time to truly give bodies and our brains a rest.

In this edition of Sunrise Sweat, Spectrum News anchor Stef Manisero tries out a kind of recovery that does both.

Float Therapy facts:

  • Each tub is filled with 1,000 pounds of Epsom Salts, which allows people of all sizes to float automatically
  • Eliminates gravity on our musculoskeletal and nervous systems
  • Benefits include pain relief, muscle soreness, relaxation and improved sleep (plus, all that salt is good for your skin)
  • Float therapy is also known as sensory deprivation -- you have the option to remove all five senses by depriving them of light and sound
  • You can make each float your own: you have the room for 60 minutes, and you choose whether to keep the lights on or off, keep the pod open or closed, play music or float in silence, etc.
  • Ear plugs and towels are provided
