AUSTIN, Texas – Travis county is breaking records this week with the largest number of eligible voters ever now registered in the county.

  • 93.5 percent of eligible voters are registered
  • October 7 is the next deadline to register
  • Next election day is November 5

The Travis County Tax Office says there are now more than 800,000 registered voters which is 93.5 percent of the county’s eligible voters.

“I am so proud of our volunteer deputy registrars, the tax office staff and Travis County citizens for this achievement, but we’re not done yet...” said county voter registrar and tax assessor-collector, Bruce Elfant, in a statement.

Monday October 7 is the last day to register to vote in the next election on November 5.

Officials say historically, off-year elections like this year typically only bring a 20 percent turnout of eligible voters.
