AUSTIN, Texas — The lower deck of northbound Interstate 35 was shut down Tuesday night into Wednesday morning due to debris falling from the upper deck to the lower deck.
According to the Austin Police Department, it appears an object hit the interior retaining wall, causing debris to fall from the upper to lower deck.
TxDOT evaluated the scene. Police said the lower deck remained closed while engineers assessed it. The roadway was reopened to traffic by early Wednesday morning.
Police said the upper deck was not affected and remained open to traffic.
