AUSTIN, Texas -- With the new school year around the corner, the Austin Independent School District is working to help students and their families be prepared.

Austin ISD, in collaboration with the City of Austin, will host its 14th annual Back to School Bash and Safety Fair from 8 a.m. until Noon at the Palmer Events Center on Saturday, August 3.

More than 120 community organizations and district departments will provide information and activities to prepare AISD students for a safe and successful school year. 

Austin ISD is also providing free transportation at select locations throughout the city. 

Key services

  • Presentations on safety and educational best practices will help prepare students and parents for their first day of school and beyond.
  • Free health screening and booster seats.
  • Interpretation available in American Sign Language, Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, Spanish, Pashto, Swahili and Vietnamese.
  • Free backpacks! Austin ISD students must be present to receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, while supplies last.
