AUSTIN, Texas —  If you're new to Austin, you may have figured out we have a big foodie scene and the options can be overwhelming.

We asked a local food blogger for her top five list of must try restaurants for newcomers.

"I kind of narrowed it down into categories. If you want to try breakfast tacos, I've got an option for that. If you want to try barbecue, I have one for that. A really good pizza spot and a great dessert spot that I think you should try," said Kelsey Kennedy of somuchlife.com. "I kind of picked a really popular classic spot for each of those categories."

1.  Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ

The South Austin trailer includes sliced brisket sandwiches, nachos and tacos.

2. Via 313

Via 313 is known for its Detroit style deep dish pizza, which also includes gluten and dairy free options.

3. Taco Deli

Austinites go crazy for the taco shop's famous sauces, and of course its tacos.

4. Austin Beer Garden and Brewery

Also known as ABGB, the pizza shop has its own brewery.

5.  Lick Honest Ice Cream

Lick has four locations in Austin and is known for its unique natural flavors.

If you check any of these restaurants out, we want to hear from you. You can email us your thoughts and pictures at AustinNewcomers@charter.com.
