  • Claims UC is illegally outsourcing

On Thursday and Friday, the 2020 hopeful is joining the AFSCME Local 3299 union that filed Unfair Labor Practice charges against the University of California. The group is protesting the outsourcing of university jobs.

According to AFSCME, the UC Medical Center is bypassing the union to cut costs and outsource patient care. An estimated $684 million was spent by UC Medical Center to for-profit companies, states the group.

The trip comes after Castro introduced a few potential education policies, including ideas like universal Pre-K, more federal investment into education, and raises for teachers.
