LAKE TRAVIS, Texas – Thanks to a week's worth of rainfall, Lake Travis rose more than a foot since last Sunday, prompting the LCRA to open up several floodgates along the Highland Lakes chain.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, water is flowing over the spillway at Inks Dam, which does not have floodgates. One floodgate is partially open at Buchanan Dam and one floodgate is open at Mansfield Dam. Downstream, two partial floodgates are open at Tom Miller Dam.

At the peak on Thursday, Lake Travis levels topped out at 684.71 feet before the floodgates were open. Water levels gradually dropped through the night by about one tenth of a foot and have since held steady around 684.6 feet above mean sea level.

Lake Travis is officially 106 percent full. At the latest count, the levels are less than one foot away from the minor flood stage, which starts at 685 feet full. 

More floodgates might be opened or closed, as needed, according to the LCRA, based on new rainfall.
