TEXAS – Half a dozen tornadoes reportedly touched down Wednesday in tornado alley, including four in Texas, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Storm Prediction Center.

  • More storms possible Thursday, Friday
  • Tornadoes spotted in North Texas
  • Could unleash sizable hail

The closest happened Wednesday evening, when a trained storm spotter witnessed a twister dropping from a storm in the small town of Gatesville, which is roughly 100 miles north-northwest of the Capital City.

A slight risk for severe storms continues to loom overhead on Thursday, and there is a marginal risk for severe weather on Friday.

The Storm Prediction Center calls for the strongest thunderstorms to unleash some sizable hail and potentially damaging storm winds.

As of this writing, computer models show a round of storms moving through the region Thursday before midnight then another round or two coming through the area on Friday.

As seen in the above video, Chief Meteorologist Burton Fitzsimmons says the last of the rain should move out of our area late Friday night, leaving the region with dry conditions for the weekend.
