BASTROP, Texas – A pedestrian is dead after he was hit by a car in Bastrop Sunday night.

At 8:50 p.m. a man was attempting to cross the 500 block of State Highway 71 East when he was hit by a car.
Bastrop police said the man was walking north trying to cross the eastbound main lanes of traffic when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian has been identified as 41-year-old Oklahoma resident Justin Carl York.
The driver involved in the crash was taken to St. David’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
