ROUND ROCK, Texas – A Spectrum field technician acted quickly and saved the life of a boy trapped in a Round Rock house fire on Tuesday.

Fire officials say Joel Mendoza, a Spectrum field technician, noticed a little boy in the window of a burning house. Mendoza immediately grabbed a ladder and carried the boy down to safety. The fire was so close, it melted the top of the ladder.
Mendoza took the boy to EMS, who released him back to his family after treating him for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters thanked Mendoza for his life-saving measures. He was also given a coin from the Round Rock Fire Department as a token of appreciation.
