SAN MARCOS, Texas — The San Marcos Police Department is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that happened over the weekend.

  • Witnesses saw maroon Chevrolet Tahoe driven from scene
  • May have possible side bumper damage
  • Call SMPD with any information

According to police, the incident happened on Saturday, February 9 at 10:29pm at the intersection of N. LBJ Dr. and Hutchison Street. Pedro Ybarra, a 54-year-old, and his 23-year-old daughter, Larissa Ybarra, were struck by a vehicle while crossing the Hutchison crosswalk.

The two were transported to Seton Hays, and Pedro Ybarra was admitted to the ICU with severe head injuries and possible permanent brain damage. He has been placed in a medically-induced coma.

Larissa Ybarra has non-incapacitating injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Multiple videos provided by businesses in the downtown area and along the route the suspect used to flee were reviewed and compared.

Investigators have narrowed the suspect vehicle to two possibilities:

  • Maroon colored 2015-2019 GMC Yukon
  • Maroon colored 2015-2018 Chevrolet Tahoe

The path of travel of the suspect is north on LBJ Drive, west on Hutchison Street, south on Guadalupe Street, and then west on Hopkins Street.

SMPD is requesting any information or witnesses to the incident, specifically any businesses with video of the offender’s vehicle, body shops that completed repairs on matching vehicles for collision-related damages, or any person with information about the suspect to contact police immediately.
