UPDATE: Lake Travis High School Principal Gordon Butler said after an investigation, officials found no threat to the school. A letter to parents said in part:

“...we have concluded that the rumors about a potential threat to our campus are unfounded. Our school is safe.

Contrary to student conversations and social media activity, no weapons have been recovered, no arrests have been made, and at no time was our campus placed on lockdown.”

AUSTIN, Texas – Police investigated a potential threat to Lake Travis High School on Thursday after a tip was sent to school officials.

In a letter to parents, the school’s principal Gordon Butler said late Wednesday night he was made aware of social media rumors regarding a possible threat to the campus. The tip was sent through the Cavs Who Care Tip Line.

Police will increase their presence on campus during the investigation.

The principal specified that the potential threat is unrelated to the assault on a teacher earlier this week.
