AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Public Library and KOOP Radio on Wednesday hosted a special concert to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' legendary impromptu rooftop concert.

  • London rooftop concert was January 30, 1969
  • The Beatles’ last live public performance
  • The Eggmen covered full set Wednesday

The Beatles performed on the rooftop of Apple Corp in London on January 30, 1969. It was the band’s last live public performance. In memory of that day, the Austin Public Library held a concert at its roof garden.

The Eggmen performed the full set from The Beatles' original rooftop performance. In order to mirror the Beatles' 1969 performance, the Eggmen’s set even included an interruption by men dressed as British police officers during the song Get Back.

After performing songs from the original rooftop concert, The Eggmen belted out The Beatles favorites like Hey Jude and Revolution. KOOP Radio broadcasted the concert live on 91.7 FM and KOOP.org.
