MCDADE, Texas — A Central Texas school district is closing for the rest of the week due to attendance issues caused by the flu.

  • McDade ISD closes due to the flu
  • Schools will be closed January 24 and 25
  • District will sanitize buildings

In a Facebook post, McDade ISD Superintendent Barbara Marchbanks said all schools will be closed Thursday, January 24 and Friday, January 25. She said only 67 percent of its pre-k students, 68 percent of its kindergarteners and 78 percent of its first graders attended school Wednesday.

The district says all custodial and maintenance staff will report to work to sanitize all buildings and busses.

Marchbanks said students will not have to make up the time because they have enough minutes built into the calendar.
