AUSTIN, Texas - The latest South By Southwest 2019 keynote and featured speakers were announced Tuesday, and among them is newly elected Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Ocasio-Cortez was announced as a featured speaker, a list that also includes author Neil Gaiman and musician/creative A$AP Rocky.
Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known by the initialism AOC, is the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district.
Having never previously held elected office, Ocasio-Cortez, 29, in June 2018 defeated incumbent Joe Crowley in the primary by nearly 15 percentage points. In addition to championing progressive causes, she is noted for her influence on social media.
Ocasio-Cortez is slated to appear at SXSW with journalist Briahna Gray.
