SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating a shooting outside a nightclub on San Antonio’s northside.

Officials say a patron was escorted out of Club Essence, at 800 Lexington Ave., for being highly intoxicated and bothering others. Once outside, the man began to fight the club’s security guard.
A friend who saw the fight, stepped in and put the security guard in a choke hold. The security guard reached for his weapon and shot the friend in the stomach. The injured person was taken to SAMMC in serious condition.
Police detained the security guard and the club patron for questioning. Charges are pending for all three people involved.
