AUSTIN, Texas — The Dougherty Arts Center’s first new exhibition of the year features the work of digital artist and graphic designer Dave McClinton.

  • Artist Dave McClinton
  • Features digital artwork
  • Runs through February 9

The title of the show is Despite It All. It features vivid collage style portraits.

“The show is about getting through life as a black American, despite everything that happens to you throughout your life,” said McClinton. “There is a sense of pride, no matter what you’ve gone through. There is a sense of resilience, no matter what you’ve gone through.”

McClinton says the person in each portrait is invented by the artist. The images are pulled together from various sources. They are stitched together in a photo editing program and printed out.

Despite it All is on view in the Julia C. Butridge Gallery at the Dougherty Arts Center at 1110 Barton Springs Rd. through February 9.
