AUSTIN, Texas – A calendar kick-off event was held Sunday, where Austin police officers took photos and provided signatures to the community.

  • Extension of ADP Resue Me partnership
  • Available for purchse online
  • Features 12 dog, 17 officers

Austin Animal Shelter partnered with the Austin Police Department for a 2019 calendar featuring officers and shelter dogs.

The calendar is an extension of the APD Rescue Me partnership, which is a weekly feature with an officer and an adoptable dog each week on social media.

Calendars will be available for purchase online in the coming week on the AAC website.

The calendar features 12 dogs and 17 officers, including Chief of Police Brian Manley. The photos serve as a reminder of all the animals at AAC who are patiently waiting to be rescued.

“We are proud of this partnership, because not only does it help highlight pets who need a good home, but it also shows the softer, human side of the men and women in uniform,” Manley said. “Plus, how do you pass up the opportunity to get out of the office for a few minutes to meet a dog?”

Proceeds from calendar sales will go directly to the animals at AAC, supporting medical care and enrichment to make their stay at the shelter as comfortable and quick as possible. The #APDRescueMe partnership began in February 2018.

“Our goal for this partnership has always been to highlight and find homes for the animals in our care, particularly those who have been at the shelter the longest. Just as important though, is using this very public opportunity to thank Austin Police and its officers for what they do every day. Being able to do that in calendar-form has been very special,” Communications and Media Manager at AAC Jennifer Olohan said.
