AUSTIN, Texas – Austin will add up to 10 pedestrian restrooms over the next five years costing more than $1 million.

The City Council approved the additional bathrooms during their Thursday meeting. The contract will cost as much as $1.35 million.

The first two bathrooms will be installed downtown. One will be located in the parking lot of the Municipal Court Building, and the other will be on Brazos Street.

Earlier this year, the council considered a budget of $100,000 to clean one downtown toilet. The council considered a five-year contract of $775,000 to clean the city-owned portable toilet.
