NATIONWIDE – Kotex tampons are being recalled in the U.S., and Canada after reports of the product unraveling, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The parent company, Kimberly-Clark, announced the recall of “U by Kotex Sleek Tamps, Regular Absorbency” for a defect. Reports of the tampons unraveling or coming apart during removal led to the recall.

In some cases, the user had to seek medical help to remove pieces of the tampon left inside the woman’s body. There were also a small number of reports detailing infections, vaginal irritation, and localized vaginal injury related to the tampons.

The tampons were distributed between October 17, 2016 and October 23, 2018.

Anyone in possession of the recalled tampons is asked to call the consumer service team at 1-888-255-3499 and stop using the product immediately. Users who experience symptoms from using the tampons should seek medical attention immediately.
