AUSTIN, Texas – A man is in custody after a SWAT situation unfolded in North Austin overnight on Wednesday.
- SWAT situation broke out early Wednesday morning
- Man threatened officers and refused to exit apartment
- Situation ended by 4 a.m.
At 12:40 a.m. a 911 caller reported a man making threats to harm himself at an apartment complex on 8552 N Lamar Blvd.
When police arrived, the suspect said he would harm the officers if they tried to enter the unit.
Hostage negotiators were called to the scene. The suspect claimed he was armed.
The situation ended peacefully by 4 a.m. with the suspect taken into custody.
