AUSTIN, Texas – A man who was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while fleeing a robbery has been identified, according to Austin police.

Investigators said Christopher Brown, 40, robbed a person at a Shell gas station on November 27.
After the robbery, Brown jumped over a concrete barrier and attempted to cross the heavily-trafficked roadway. As soon as he made it to the center lane, a tractor-trailer hit him.
Brown was transported to the Dell Seton Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was unaware that a person had been hit, but is not facing any charges at this time.

This is the city’s 69th fatal crash this year.
