AUSTIN, Texas – Drivers are being warned of two credit card skimmers found at a North Austin gas station.

The skimmers were found at the 7-Eleven on 14730 N Interstate 35.

The Texas Department of Agriculture found the skimmers on gas pumps 11 and 12. The Austin Police Department was called to investigate the scene.

Credit card skimmers are used by thieves to steal credit card information.

Tips to avoid skimmers:

  • Use pump closest to gas station in sight of employees
  • Check security tape of gas pump
  • Torn security tape could indicate pump has been opened
  • Pay with cash when you can
  • Save the receipt and monitor bank statements

Drivers who think they might have been skimmed are asked to call 1-800-TELL-TDA.
