AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Police said they received more than 20 reports of theft during the first weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival this year.

The majority of the thefts were pick-pocketing cases. The Austin Police Department recommends attendees take some precautions to protect their phones from being stolen.

It is suggested that festival-goers pay attention to their surroundings. They are also advised to keep their phone, driver’s license, and credit cards in separate places on their person to avoid items being stolen all at once.

Attendees are also advised to keep their belongings in a defensible spot; like a front pocket or fanny pack. Police also recommend taking note of the serial numbers of the devices people bring to the festival.
