AUSTIN, Texas – Austin police discovered $4.8 million worth of meth, cocaine and heroin hidden inside a truck’s tires on July 10.
An officer stopped a Ford F-150 on Interstate 35 for speeding and failure to display a front license plate. Speaking with the driver, 43-year-old Armando Martinez, the officer noted clues that he might be in possession of narcotics.
After giving consent to search his vehicle, the officer discovered irregularities with the tires. Narcotics K-9 Raggio confirmed the presence of drugs.
Inside the tire 138 pounds of narcotics were found in metal casings, including 82 pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of meth and six pounds of heroin.
Martinez was arrested and has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.
