AUSTIN, Texas — On Thursday, a Travis County grand jury indicted three people Thursday in the ongoing investigation into fraud at the Travis County tax assessor-collector’s office.

The district attorney’s office said the felony indictments were for former tax office employees Cathy Lynn Wilson, who is charged with theft by public servant and two counts related to presenting false information, and Shell Kenneth Prieto-Reese, who is charged with theft by public servant.

Non-employee Eulalio Hernandez Jr. was also indicted in connection to the investigation on three counts related to presenting false information.

With the indictments, their felony charges can move forward with criminal prosecution.

In late May, seven were arrested in connection with fraud. The activities went on for months until an internal audit revealed the crimes being committed.

DPS was assisted by the Travis County District Attorney’s office, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, the Travis County Auditor and the Travis County Judge.
