CASTLE HILLS, Texas – Castle Hills city leaders are implementing new safety measures at city hall after the deadly shootings in Sutherland Springs and Santa Fe, Texas.

On Tuesday, the City Council launched another phase of its safety plan inside council chambers. The city's security procedures have been under review for the last two months.

Now, public entry to the chambers will be limited to one door. There is also a bag check and a metal detector at the entrance, which was installed a few years before.

"We think it’s time to make sure the residents of Castle Hills are secure and safe and we know that we have the capability to do that,' said Mayor Tim Howell of Castle Hills.

Another future upgrade includes bullet proofing the chamber's dais. All security upgrades are paid for by Castle Hills' court security fund.
