Chelsey joined Spectrum News Austin as a reporter in October 2017. She is a native Houstonian and is excited to be close to home and her family here in Austin.
Chelsey started her career in journalism at the University of Houston, where she anchored the school’s weekly news show. She also interned at KPRC-TV, learning just about every job in the newsroom.
Upon graduation, Chelsey packed up and moved to West Texas for her first reporting gig at KWES-TV in Midland. It was there that she learned to shoot, write and edit her own stories. She developed a love for features, but also jumped at the opportunity to cover breaking news. She’s covered national stories like the school shooting in Alpine, TX. A year into her job in Midland, Chelsey began anchoring and producing her own shows on the weekends, which further solidified her love of news.
She is excited to call Austin her new home and remain in her home state.
When Chelsey is not at work, you can find her exploring Austin’s vibrant culture. She loves to try new food, shop and go swimming.
Shoot her an email or follow her on Twitter. She’s always looking for story ideas and cool places to check out.
