AUSTIN, Texas -- It doesn’t get bigger than this. The University of Texas on Wednesday announced it will play a home-and-home football series with SEC powerhouse Alabama in 2022 and 2023.

Texas will host the Crimson Tide on Sept. 10, 2022. The team will travel to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9, 2023.

As part of the deal, Texas and Ohio State have mutually agreed to push back their home-and-home series scheduled for 2022 and 2023 to 2025 and 2026.

Texas and Alabama last met in the 2009 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl. They’ve played nine times dating back to 1902, and Texas holds a 7-1-1 advantage.

The teams have only met three times on their home fields, and the last game dates all the way back to 1922. The teams met in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, the 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, the 1964 Orange Bowl, and the 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls.
