NATIONWIDE — A new Farm Bill goes before lawmakers in Capitol Hill that has Congress divided. Now, food banks in Texas and across the nation are joining in the fight.

Food bank advocates are worried that the proposed restrictions in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, would make it more difficult for people to qualify for food stamps. As of May 1, more than 3 million Texans depend on the program with 100,473 recipients in Travis County and 299,212 in Bexar County. Most recipients are children aged 5 to 17.

Central Texas Food Bank's Kathy Green explains what the new restrictions are and how it'll affect food pantries.
