AUSTIN, Texas — Niche, an organization that uses data to rate cities on a number of factors and that also applies feedback from real people, has released its annual ‘Safest Places to Live’ report.
According to Niche, reviews and data are scored and standardized so that each place is comparable. The rankings include the 20 safest neighborhoods, suburbs, neighborhoods, towns and cities in the Austin area combined.

The list continues to include other Austin area places with reviews submitted by users. Niche also gives grades to public schools within the area and population numbers.
The survey breaks down areas even further by different categories including 'Best Overall Places to Live,' 'Best for Families' as well as 'Most Diverse':
- Rosedale and Allandale ranked No. 1 best place to live based on "crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities and local amenities"
- Rollingwood and West Lake Hills ranked No. 1 and No. 2 for best for families
- University Hills and MLK neighborhoods were 1 and 2 for 'most diverse'
