ROUND ROCK, Texas — A preliminary autopsy reveals the 23-year-old man responsible for the Austin bombings did indeed die by suicide.

According to Williamson County Justice of the Peace Dain Johnson, Pct. 1, Mark Conditt's cause of death is multiple penetrating shrapnel injuries and his death has been ruled a suicide at this point.

He says the final report is not complete though, and will not be made public until the criminal investigation has concluded.

At his press conference last Wednesday, Interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley stated that it was not yet known if the explosion killed Conditt or if it was a result of gunfire from officers. He did say, however, that the explosion was tremendous and that Conditt suffered significant injuries from the blast.
